STAY AT HOME FOR EASTER
Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council (CGRC) mayor Councillor Abb McAlister urged all residents to stay at home this Easter.
“We’ve seen some pleasing results in respect to the spread of COVID-19 in our region over the last few days, but this doesn’t mean we can become complacent. With the Easter holidays coming up, I like to urge residents to stay at home, and discourage anyone who may be thinking of visiting our region during this time,” Cr McAlister said.
“I understand and empathise with the community, it is hard and we are all impacted by the spread of this disease. It is highly contagious and we don’t want to be in a situation with community to community transfer. Stay at home this Easter,” Cr McAlister added.
The NSW Premier and the NSW Health Minister have outlined orders under the Public Health Act that state a person must not leave their home without a reasonable excuse.
These rules do not prohibit people from going to the supermarket and pharmacy, going to and from work if you cannot work from home, going to medical appointments, or leaving for some brief exercise in your own neighbourhood.
NSW Deputy Premier John Barilaro has urged Sydneysiders to stay at home over the holiday period, and not visit regional NSW. With fears that the virus will spread and health systems in these regions put under undue stress.
