COVID-19 UPDATE 27 March – CARAVAN PARKS AND CAMP GROUND INFORMATION

Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council (CGRC) is heeding the Governments directives and risk mitigation strategies in closing Council operated Caravan Parks and Camp Grounds across the region to holiday visitors.

Council’s two parks The Cootamundra Caravan Park and Gundagai River Caravan Park are leased to private operators, however the instruction was issued by Council for these parks to follow Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s directive. The parks remain open to staff, permanent residents or those who have no other place of permanent residence.

The Prime Ministers directive states that people who were staying at a caravan park or camping ground before 26 March 2020 under a booking can continue to stay until the end of that booking. Bookings cannot be extended.

Council’s free recreation RV friendly sites will be closed, along with camping/caravan stays at local showgrounds and reserves.

CGRC mayor Cr Abb McAlister said Council was following all advice issued from the State and Federal Governments.

“We need to restrict movements. My priority is to ensure everyone in our community has a health system that can cope should they need it, I want to ensure that essential supplies can be maintained in our shops and supermarkets for our community. We have been issued these directives from the Government and we have to follow them,” Cr McAlister said.

Residents are reminded that should they need any information COVID-19 Updates, please visit Council’s website www.cgrc.nsw.gov.au, www.health.gov.au, www.health.nsw.gov.au.
