Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council has appointed Mr Matt Stubbs as the new Manager for Technical Services.
Mr Stubbs will be responsible for a range of services that relate to the construction and maintenance of all aspects of the
road network including roads, footpaths, and storm water drainage and cycle ways. His team will consist of staff that
specialise in survey and design, earthworks, pavement, concrete, bridges, culverts and Council’s workshop.
Mr Stubbs will primarily be based in the CGRC offices at Gundagai. He started with Tumut Shire council as a cadet
engineer in 2007. Before gaining a Project Manager position with Snowy Works and Services in 2012 prior to the
amalgamation of Tumut and Tumbarumba councils into Snowy Valleys Council. During this time Mr Stubbs successfully
completed formal engineering qualifications in the form of a diploma and bachelor degree through distance education.
He focused on a range of aspects of local government engineering and after starting in Survey and Design, more recently
focused on Project Management of projects primarily for Roads and Maritime Services.
Mr Stubbs said he was excited to join the CGRC team.
“I aim use my practical skills in engineering and management to help develop CGRC into an industry leading organisation
that provides efficient services to meet the needs of our community into the future,” Mr Stubbs said.
“There are a number of challenges present in delivering the works program which is exceptionally large given recent
funding but this also presents opportunities to challenge ourselves as an organisation and to provide some high quality
facilities for the community,” Mr Stubbs added.
CGRC Acting General Manager Mr Phil McMurray said he was pleased the management structure at Council was coming
together.
‘We have been working very hard to bring our management structure together with a number of key appointments
being made. There will be further announcements to come. I’m so pleased Matt Stubbs has joined the team and look
forward to working with him,” Mr McMurray said.
