Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council has been fortunate to gain expert advice from Tamworth Regional council’s Projects and Assets officer Grant Reeckmann. Reeckmann toured Cootamundra and Gundagai on Wednesday and Thursday this week to advise on councils major projects that involve the construction of two adventure parks in the towns. Responsible for the award winning Tamworth Regional Playground Mr Reeckmann was able to pass on his extensive knowledge and expertise to council staff. Discussions were held on planning and design principles surrounding the installation of adventure parks and what they will bring to both towns. The Tamworth Regional Playground won the prestigious “Best Major Play space in NSW” award by Parks and Leisure Australia last year. The adventure parks create a special experience for locals and visitors, with a range of activities to suit all ages, and are recognised as tourist attractions.
Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council mayor Cr Abb McAlister said Grant’s advice was invaluable.“We are very fortunate to have Grant visit and pass on his extensive knowledge about these types of constructions. The Tamworth playground has been extremely successful, we are grateful for his input,” Cr McAlister said.
Mr Reeckmann visited possible sites, parks and greenspaces in both towns before returning to Tamworth on Thursday.
CGRC has earmarked $1.2 million from the Stronger Country Communities Fund to finance the construction of these adventure parks in Cootamundra and Gundagai. The Stronger Communities Fund is a NSW Government initiative and is administered by council.
