Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council (CGRC) has installed two double electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in Cootamundra.

Located in the CGRC carpark behind the Cootamundra War Memorial Library the EV charging stations are a part of NSW Government’s Drive electric NSW EV destination charging grants.

The EV chargers have 24-hour access and are under CCTV surveillance for added security. They are operated as a tap-and-go system that is available via the Exploren app.

CGRC mayor Cr Abb McAlister said the installation of the EV stations has been a welcome addition in Cootamundra and will have a benefit, should Council acquire electric vehicles and for local and visitor use.

“The rapid growth of electric vehicles globally has necessitated the integration of charging infrastructure to facilitate EV adoption and address the associated energy demands. Cootamundra has a unique opportunity to embrace this transition, ensuring residents and visitors have access to convenient, sustainable transportation options,” Cr McAlister said.

Charging fees are competitive with similar stations located in other towns.
