The Boundaries Commission has announced dates for the public hearings in relation to CGRC’s de-amalgamation business case proposal, as well as inviting the public to submit written submissions.
Community members are strongly encouraged to address one or more factors listed in section 263(3) of the Local Government Act 1993 in their submission, covering issues such as:
- financial advantages/disadvantages
- the community of interest and geographic cohesion
- attitude of residents and ratepayers
- requirements of the area concerned in relation to elected representation for residents and ratepayers at the local level
- any impact on council operations and staff, and
- any impact on rural communities in the areas concerned
The dates for the public inquiry in relation to the proposal to de-amalgamate the Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council Area, will be:
- Wednesday 27 April 2022 – Session 1: 5:30pm – 7:00pm at the Cootamundra Ex-Services Club, Parker Street, Cootamundra.
- Thursday 28 April 2022 – Session 2: 9:30am – 12:00pm at the Cootamundra Ex-Services Club, Parker Street, Cootamundra.
- Thursday 28 April 2022 – Session 1: 4:30pm – 7:00pm at the Gundagai District Services Club, Sheridan Street, Gundagai.
- Friday 29 April 2022 – Session 2: 9:30am – 12:00pm at the Gundagai District Services Club, Sheridan Street, Gundagai.
Written submissions on the business case should be forwarded to Local Government Boundaries Commission, Executive Officer, Locked Bag 3015, Nowra NSW 2541 or emailed to EO@lgbc.nsw.gov.au. Submissions must be lodged by COB on 2 May 2022.
Any member of the public wishing to attend the public inquiry should register nominating the session they wish to attend. Speakers will be allotted four (4) minutes to address the Commission.
