“Our Place, Our Future 2022” is the vision Council shares with the community for the future of our Region and it’s time for a refresh!
The Community Strategic Plan (CSP)
The CSP is the highest-level plan that a council will prepare. The purpose of the CSP is to identify the community’s main priorities and aspirations for the future and to plan strategies for achieving these goals. It guides all remaining strategies and plans and must be developed by councils with and on behalf of the community.
Council engaged C7even Communications to facilitate the community consultation process and develop the CSP on Council’s behalf. After an extensive period of community consultation, the draft CSP has been developed and is now presented to the community for comment.
Council is inviting feedback from ratepayers and residents. The document is available by clicking the link below or at Council’s administration centres; To make your submission, you are required to do so in writing by 4pm Tuesday 19 April 2022. Submissions may be: Delivered to the administration centres at Cootamundra or Gundagai, or posted to The General Manager, Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council, PO Box 420 Cootamundra NSW 2590. Our goal is to work in partnership with the community to co-create a vibrant region attracting people, investment and business through innovation, diversity and community spirit. The review of our Community Strategic Plans will ensure the hopes, aspirations and vision for our region is captured.
We believe involving the community and key stakeholders in Council’s decision-making processes is crucial to achieving this goal. It requires a robust, strategic approach – which is why we’ve decided to take to the streets this November, December and January and talk face-to-face with residents. We have also taken this opportunity to engage directly with you and personally invite you to participate. Our aim is to ensure Cootamundra Gundagai’s Community Strategic Plan has a whole of community approach and includes input from as many of our valued residents as possible.
Community input to Council planning not only promotes strong working relationships between Council and its stakeholders, it maximises the knowledge and experience upon which decisions are based, and leads to better outcomes for all.
Council’s Community Strategic Plan aims to outline the community’s priorities and aspirations for the future, and the strategies to achieve them. In planning now for the future, Council can begin working in collaboration with the community and other partners to deliver our community’s preferred future. CGRC is seeking community input into the development of its Integrated Planning and Reporting Framework. The Framework is made up of an integrated suite of documents which will guide the actions that Council, the community and key stakeholders will take to meet the aspirations and priorities of a vibrant, and dynamic community.
The Framework consists of:
• The Community Strategic Plan (10 years)
• A Resourcing Strategy:
o Long-Term Financial Plan (10 Years)
o Strategic Asset Management Plan (10 years)
o Workforce Plan (4 years)
• Delivery Program (4 years)
• Operational Plan (annual)
The Framework will ensure Council can plan, within its means, for sustainable maintenance and renewal of infrastructure and provision of services.

In planning now for the future, Council can begin working in collaboration with the community and other partners to deliver our community’s preferred future.
The success of the development of the Community Strategic Plan depends on a collective approach between our community members and Council. This plan can only reflect the community’s aspirations for the future with the community’s direct participation. The Council will ensure the community is informed, encouraged, enabled, and welcomed to participate in the development of the plan. Involvement of all community members and maximising participation will be achieved by implementing a variety of engagement techniques.
