Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council (CGRC) is gearing up for some great activities over the next few weeks.
The streets of Cootamundra and Gundagai are coming alive with Christmas decorations and messages of goodwill and celebrations adorning the local shop windows.
Residents and business owners have been encouraged to light up their houses and businesses for the festive season and enter the Sparkling Streets Christmas Lights competition where great prizes are on offer for the most decorative display. It will be all fun and festivity at the Starry Nights Christmas festivals in Gundagai on 13 December and Cootamundra on 19 December. It will be a night of supporting local business, catching up with friends and family, enjoying captivating entertainment and children’s rides these festivals strengthen community connection and spirit.
On the subject of community spirit, the Parker Street Christmas tree has undergone a restoration and is shining brightly thanks to a community minded couple who undertook the restoration and has brought joy to all.
The Parks and Gardens teams in both centres have embraced the Christmas season and have the streets looking immaculate with colourful displays of perennial plants in festive colours. The recent rains have bought parks and ovals to life with the lawns and fields lush and green.

Cootamundra’s Parker Street is shining brightly day and night, with the installation of the restored Christmas Tree on the round-a-bout at Parker and Wallendoon Streets. The tree lights up at night with fairy lights to complement the permanent tree fairy lights along Parker Street.
