The date for residents to submit nominations for Australia Day awards has been extended to 15 November 2024.

Residents are urged to get the nominations in to allow Councillors time to consider and select the 2025 Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Sportsperson/Team/Organisation for the 2025 Australia Day awards.

Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council (CGRC), mayor Councillor Abb McAlister said he was disappointed with the response from residents to date.

“With the original closing date of 1 November, we had only received three nominations. This is so disappointing considering the number of people who deserve recognition for the contributions they make to our communities,” Mayor McAlister said.

Nomination forms can be downloaded from Council’s website, picked up from Administration offices in Cootamundra or Gundagai.

The Australia Day Awards recognise the achievements, and contributions individuals, or groups make to our communities.
