Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council (CGRC), road work teams have undertaken work for Transport for NSW, Roads and Maritime Services (RMS), on the Burley Griffin Way, west of Stockinbingal.
The work included table drain and culvert cleaning as the drainage system along the road had become overgrown and built up with debris preventing rain water from draining away from the road pavement. Rock was placed at the culverts to assist with stabilisation of the area and to prevent future water erosion.
CGRC mayor Cr Abb McAlister said Council has been contracted by RMS to undertake and manage the work.
“Water pooling shortens the pavement life of the road, and our teams are experienced and have the resources to undertake these projects on behalf of RMS,” Cr McAlister said.
The work is expected to be completed next week.
