Reports to Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council (CGRC), have highlighted some confusion on the Public Health Order, (COVID-19 Restrictions on Gathering and Movement).

In short the NSW State Government has issued this order to ensure all people who can, stay a home. There are exemptions contained in the order. The exemptions are clearly stated in the order and can be viewed by following the link: https://www.legislation.nsw.gov.au/_emergency/Public%20Health%20(COVID-19%20Restrictions%20on%20Gathering%20and%20Movement)%20Order%202020.pdf

In particular those who are confused about exemptions on gatherings in the workplace should reference Schedule 2  Part 11 “Essential gatherings”  a gathering at an office building, farm, factory, warehouse or mining or construction site that is necessary for the normal operation of the tenants within the building, farm, warehouse, factory or site.

CGRC mayor Cr Abb McAlister reiterated that Council is not the go to place to report incidents that may or may not contravene Public Health Orders.

“I’d like to remind residents that our Council Officers are not the police, should you wish to report what you think is a contravention of these Public Health Orders in regards to social gatherings and unnecessary movements please call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000,” Cr McAlister said.
