COVID-19 UPDATE 25th March 2020 – Virtual Council Meeting for March
Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council (CGRC) will hold the next Council meeting on Tuesday 31st March electronically. The Local Government Act is being amended to allow councils to hold official meetings electronically, rather than physically. The Act is also being amended to give the Minister for Local Government the power to postpone the September council elections for 12 months, with a possible further extension to 31 December 2021.
The scheduled Council meeting for March is to be held in Gundagai, however Councillors will have access to attend remotely either from the Cootamundra venue or their private homes.
There will be no public forum, however residents who wish to comment on any items in the business papers can do so by emailing their comments to mail@cgrc.nsw.gov.au, or via post to PO Box 420 Cootamundra NSW 2590. The comments will be read out in lieu of the public forum. Residents can watch the Council meeting via livestream. Livestream can be accessed on Council’s website www.cgrc.nsw.gov.au.
CGRC mayor Cr Abb McAlister said adaptation was needed to deliver the services Council provides.
“We are in trying times, and an ever evolving situation, we are making changes and adapting to new ways of doing things. Staying connected, and using the technology we have is an important way of continuing on in the best way we can at the moment,” Cr McAlister said.
For comments to be included in the public forum section of the Council meeting they must received by close of business on Monday 31 March 2020.
