The enjoyment of studying history in Stockinbingal has been enhanced with the replacement of story boards throughout the village.
Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council (CGRC), have exchanged the old story boards which were faded and sun damaged. The new boards are easier to read and enhance the history walks around the village.
The sixteen story boards are situated on a site of particular interest, and gives a brief record of the buildings history and story over time.
CGRC mayor Cr Abb McAlister said he was pleased that the new story boards were installed.
“The history of our region is both diverse and interesting, the identity of our towns and villages are often the result of the historic buildings and characters that have shaped them into the unique places they are”.
“The amount of visitors who study these boards as they travel through our region and the education they give to our youngsters is really important. I’m happy we’ve been able to replace the aging story boards in Stockinbingal with these new ones and look forward to having a look at them when I’m next in Stockinbingal,” Cr McAlister said.
