STAYING IN TOUCH WITH ROAD SAFETY
Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council (CGRC), Road Safety Officer, Anthony Carroll invites all community groups throughout the regions to express their interest in hosting a Road Safety Information Session. In conjunction with Transport for NSW (TfNSW) Mr Carroll has a range of resources covering road safety for seniors, learner drivers, school students, farmers, cyclists and other road users.
TfNSW regularly runs campaigns targeting drink driving, pedestrian safety, learner drivers and school bus safety. Mr Carroll is encouraging all local groups, and community organisations to contact him via CGRC to discuss possible presentations and talks on road safety.
“Most presentations only go for an hour, and are informative. I’d really give local groups and community organisations in our towns and villages the opportunity to participate in these resources,” Mr Carroll said.
The On the Road 65Plus presentation offers older road users suggestions and tips to help make safer choices when driving, riding, walking, using a mobility scooter or catching public transport, sharing information to improve their safety when they are out and about.
Mr Carroll said the On the Road 65Plus sessions profile the changes to our health that can come with age, and how conditions such as vision impairment and dementia can affect our abilities as road users, and invites senior groups to contact him if they would like to have a session organised.
“I’d like encourage all community groups in our towns and villages to contact me through Council, if they would like to have this presentation or any other of our Road Safety campaigns delivered to their groups,” Mr Carroll added.
