Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council’s (CGRC) Regulatory staff in conjunction with a local information technology consultant have developed an app that allows the Council to record movements of Companion Animals (Cats or Dogs) that are dealt with by Councils Rangers.
The app provides real time data and a photograph as well as where and when an animal is located and picked up by the Rangers. This information is automatically posted to Councils website giving pet owners immediate confirmation as to the possible whereabouts of a missing cat or dog. The app logs movements from the time the animal is picked up, to the time it is returned home or adopted.
Therefore, an owner of a cat or dog that has had a pet go missing, can view this information at any time of the day or night on Councils website and if the animal has been impounded after hours and the Council Offices are closed, pet owners can be comforted in the knowledge that their pet is secure, safe and sound.
If their missing cat or dog has not been picked up, another feature of this app allows people to report their pet missing by completing the Lost Animal Form on Councils website, this immediately informs Councils Regulatory staff to be on the lookout for your missing pet.
CGRC mayor Cr Abb McAlister urged residents to have a look at this new service.
“This new app will give real time information to those who have lost a pet, it’s a great service and I encourage all residents to go to our website and have a look at this service,” Cr McAlister said.
The Councils website also shows any cats or dogs that are available to be adopted.
