Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council has commenced work on the construction of the planned new sewerage treatment works in Gundagai.
This phase of the project includes the construction of a new entry road to allow heavy machinery and construction vehicles access to the site. The fencing widened, and safety fencing installed to isolate the golf course from the construction area. Trees have been pruned back and some removed to allow workers access to the perimeter of the new area.
The existing plant is essentially 100 years old and has suffered some flood damage in recent years particularly the 2012 flood given the age of this plant. The replacement of the treatment works is being made possible with funds from the NSW State Government and Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council.
